The wooden mountain of Matterhorn
The Matterhorn, one of the most iconic peaks in the world, stands majestically on the Swiss-Italian border. Known for its pyramidal shape and dramatic ridges, it has challenged climbers since its first ascent in 1865. With its steep 4,478M (14,692FT) elevation, unpredictable weather, and technical routes, it remains a dream and a test for alpinists.
This wooden mountain of Matterhorn is perfect for those who admire its iconic Swiss beauty or have conquered its summit and want to experience it as a piece of art in their house.

The base of every standard mountain replica follows the golden ratio 15x15 cm | 5.9x5.9 in.
The height of Matterhorn's replica is approximately 13cm | 5'1 in.
Resolution: Detail or Smoothness?
Resolution: Detail or Smoothness?
Resolution differs in terms of variing carving bit sizes used in the milling operations.
Higher resolutions create intricate, sharp details on the surface of the wooden mountain.
Lower resolutions result in a smoother surface.
We recommend higher resolutions for those who appreciate the finest of details and lower resolutions for those who prefer a softer finish on their wooden map.
Perfection in every step
Perfection in every step
We carefully hand-pick each slab of wood from a local lumberyard and cut them to highlight their best features while minimizing leftover material.
During the gluing process, the wood’s natural patterns and grain are aligned to create seamless transitions between layers on the finished wooden map.
In the modeling phase, each mountain is proportionally scaled down to preserve the steepness of the slopes and the natural contours of the landscape.
The ratio between the mountain Matterhorn and the wooden replica is roughly 1:344 461
During the machining process, the terrain is carved out with a specialized milling machine, and then hand-sanded to perfection. After the engraving and painting process, it is sanded and polished before a protective wooden finish is applied.

We recently purchased 8 of the Matterhorn wooden mountain carvings for our showroom, and we couldn't be more impressed. The craftsmanship is exceptional, and the level of detail is truly remarkable. Our clients have also been captivated by it. The Carvedmaps team was also incredibly professional and accommodating throughout the entire process. We’re thrilled with our purchase and will definitely be ordering more in the future!
I wanted something unique for my living room and I was not disappointed. Also the ability to engrave text makes me feel like its truly mine!
